Japan is a beautiful country with a rich culture, but it can be a bit overwhelming when it comes to social rules.
Have you ever worried if you’re accidentally being rude on a train, at a shrine, or in a restaurant?
You aren’t alone.
Many travelers feel this anxiety because Japanese etiquette is often subtle and unspoken.

[Why I created this for you]

My name is Kazu, and I am a local expert born and raised in Osaka. I also lived in Kyoto for several years (my wife is a Kyoto native!), and I’ve spent 7 years in Tokyo and 3 years in Yamagata (a beautiful northern city).
Having lived in both Japan’s biggest metropolises and charming rural areas, I truly know this country inside and out.

What makes my perspective unique is my extensive experience living abroad as well.
I spent my student years in Vancouver, Canada, and later lived in Arizona during my years as a professional golfer.
I even co-founded a startup in California with an American friend.

Having stayed in over 30 countries for work and life, I deeply understand the excitement—and the anxiety—of navigating a foreign culture.
After guiding over 5,000 travelers from 65+ countries, I noticed the same cultural misunderstandings happening over and over again.
Most of these aren’t your fault—they just aren’t explained in standard guidebooks.
That’s why I decided to create this guide from both a local and a global perspective.

[What you will learn] To help you have a stress-free trip and be welcomed by locals wherever you go, I’ve summarized the most important points into a free PDF guide. Here are 3 examples of what you’ll learn:

  • Silence on Trains: It’s more than just “being quiet.” There is a specific reason why locals avoid certain behaviors.
  • The “Invisible” Queue: How Japanese people maintain order without saying a word, and how you can join the flow.
  • Eating While Walking: Why locals might give you a side-eye, and the “correct” way to enjoy street food.
